THE GALLOWS WAITS, MY LORD

Kedrick Merijohn is only a few days away from a date with the gallows in the Cabildo Prison of San Do Mar, but he’s got one last chance: the Consulate of England has heard his story and is going to try to find the man Kedrick’s supposed to have poisoned! It won’t be easy, though; the quarry could be anywhere between Chicago and New York and all they’ve got to work on is a set of vague clues about a oddly named Swede. But even more mysterious is why Kedrick won’t explain why he switched shoes with the corpse! It’s a case that only Harry Stephen Keeler could wrap up with all strings tied and all holes filled—and of course he does it on the last page.
