~ New Titles from Ramble House:
POLICEMAN'S HOLIDAY -- 1937 classic impossible mystery from Rupert Penny. Look
him up and see how difficult it is to find
books by Penny.
POLICEMAN'S EVIDENCE -- 1938 thriller by Rupert Penny concerning a lost treasure
in a gothic mansion.
ECHO OF FEAR -- brand new Paul Cameron mystery by South Africa's Wade Wright.
The first of a series of books by author Wright, this one never published
before. Classic hardboiled mystery. More Cameron novels to come.
VIXEN SCANDAL (SIGNED!!! by author) -- This is a new Ramble House "69" edition
of the first two novels by radio scholar Jim Harmon (VIXEN HOLLOW and CELLULOID
SCANDAL). He wrote them in 1961 when censorship was king and sleaze was hot. Get
your signed editions while you can! To order, just e-mail me. Soon to come:
Jim's next two novels, THE MAN WHO MADE MANIACS and SILENT SIREN.
WEST TEXAS WAR AND OTHER WESTERN STORIES (SIGNED!) -- A complete novella and six
short stories about the wild west from one of the great icons of the hardboiled
paperback scene, Gary Lovisi. Get your signed edition while they last.
FREAKS AND FANTASIES -- Short stories by Tod Robbins, collaborator with Tod
Browning on the incredible carny film, FREAKS. The story that FREAKS is based
on, Spurs, is in this collection by Chris Mikul.
~ Keeler Sale. All 80+ of the Harry Stephen Keeler novels are available at the
lowest price ever -- $5 over the Lulu price. See the Ramble House web site for a
list of the Lulu prices. Just add $5 and that's your price. Some of the skinnier
novels are less than $14. Now is your chance to get those Keelers you've never
read.
~ Here are some titles you'll soon see from Ramble House:
THE JVLIVS CAESAR MVRDER CASE -- a 1935 classic by Wallace Irvin, with an
introduction by Richard A. Lupoff. This forgotten novel is a corker. It's like I
CLAUDIUS meets THE FRONT PAGE. You only THINK you know what happened on the Ides
of March. Read this book and find out what really went on when the first emperor
of the Roman Empire was dispatched.
THE COMPLEAT OVA HAMLET -- Parodies by Richard A. Lupoff of famous old SF
authors, including Philip K. Dick, Philip Jose Farmer, Barry Malzberg, Kurt
Vonnegut, Stephen King, and others. This is an expansion of the 1968 book, THE
OVA HAMLET PAPERS. Just try to find a copy.
THE ORGAN READER -- Perhaps in two volumes, the restored text and pictures of
the radical 1971-1972 Berkeley newspaper, THE ORGAN. If you lived in the 60s you
probably don't remember it, but this new set of books will remind you of those
crazy times with a vengeance.
~ Medical Happenings. I got good news Friday when I went to see the heart
specialist. I'm recovering so well from the stent operation I had on May 7 that
I may not have to have another one. There is another heart vessel that's
partially blocked but I'm going to have a stress test in a week or so and
there's a good chance that no more operations are necessary. I've been eating
well and exercising three days a week at the hospital gym and in a few weeks
I'll probably be in the best shape I've been in in years.
Melanie, our 25-year-old daughter, has been out of the hospital for a few days
now and is recovering from a very bad case of pneumonia. We're hoping she can
get back to work next week and get her life back to normal. It's been a rough
month for the Ramble Household. My thanks to all who have supported us in our
time of malaise.
~ The best way to keep up with our new titles is to bookmark the Ramble House Lulu store and visit often. I always put new books on the first page of the store, near the top of the page. It's easy to find the store; it's just lulu dot com slash ramblehouse
And here the Ramble House Rambler mercifully ends.
